Antique Wakefield brown wicker sewing basket – pre Heywood-Wakefield 1860

This antique sewing
basket
was made by Wakefield, before he merged with Heywood to form Heywood-Wakefield.  It dates to about 1860 and still has the original Wakefield label underneath.
It stands 30″ tall and is 16″ x 13″ at the widest point of the legs.  The lower basket is 11 1/2″ x 14″ and 2 1/2″ deep.  The large upper basket is 13 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ and 6″ deep.
It has a carry handle, domed top, cabriole legs and lots of detailed work.  It’s very unusual to find such old wicker without damage and this appears perfect.  It’s a beautiful piece and a rare find.
My mother has had it in her antique-decorated home for many years and displayed her old teddy bears in it, but she’s downsizing and ready to pass it on for someone else to enjoy.
